There have been so many people taking up running recently and I realized that so many miss a vital piece to their training. Whether it's the couch to 5km, marathon, or that you just like running.
I noticed that many were injuring themselves as they didn’t have enough strength to be able to take their whole body weight through one leg during their running cycle.
This action requires your body to be strong enough in order to prevent injuries like shin splints, back pain, sciatica, runners knee, or plantar fasciitis.
So this class was designed to help runners gain the functional strength stability required for running. We even include some agility, dynamic movement skills at the end in order to improve the neuromuscular patterning of the brain as injuries can create compensations which cause abnormal movement patterns. This often leads to more injuries until the rhythm and strength of your running technique is improved.
We also include a face to face group running technique session in a park so that you can put all that you have worked for into practice. Here, you'll be taken through some running drills and feedback so that your technique will improve and therefore decrease the occurrence of injuries.
If ever you had a treatment with us at London Sports Therapy, you may recognize some of these exercises as we often give these out as part of a rehab program. But now you can do it together with other like-minded people that want to run.
This class is suitable for all levels of runners of different ages. It is also suitable for anybody that is rehabilitating after their back injury or ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, and sprained ankle and need help returning back to sport or their chosen activity.
